The Chinese national team took home the gold medal at the 2019 World Wheelchair Curling Championship, which was held in Scotland from March 3 to 10.
The five-member Chinese team, comprising of Yan Zhuo, Xu Xinchen, Zhang Mingliang, Wang Haitao and Zhang Qiang, defeated its Scottish rival during the final with a score of 5:2, winning first place during the March 10 contest.
It marks the first time a Chinese team has come top in the championship, with first place proving consistently elusive, despite the country's sporting prowess.
In February 2014, the Chinese wheelchair curling team participated in the Winter Paralympic Games for the first time in Sochi, Russia, obtaining 4th place.
And during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Paralympic Games, the Chinese team won gold, despite not having won any gold medals during the previous Winter Paralympic Games.
