Huang Lei, a deputy to the second session of the 13th National People's Congress, suggested the high-speed railway from Nanchang to Fuzhou should be included in the national railway network plans over the medium and long term.

Huang made the remarks in her proposal to the ongoing national legislature meeting in Beijing.

According to Huang, the railway, 635 kilometers in total length, is a fast route linking central China to coastal regions including Fujian and Zhejiang and an important route connecting the Silk Road Economic Belt to the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

The railway, on a route that includes such places as Jinxian, Fuzhou, Jinxi, Shaowu and Nanping, will greatly shorten the travel time from Jiangxi province to Fujian province. Both the Fujian and Jiangxi governments are attaching great importance to the railway construction, the preliminary work on which is already underway.

She suggested the railway be listed as a national project, expressing the hope that its construction will be carried out as soon as possible.
