According to preliminary calculations, Sanmenxia in Central China's Henan province maintained steady and sound economic growth in 2018.
The city recorded a total output value of 152.81 billion yuan ($22.78 billion) in 2018, up 8 percent year-on-year and 0.4 percentage points higher than the average level of the whole province. Its primary industry increased by 4.1 percent, ranking first in Henan, and the secondary and tertiary industry grew 8.5 percent and 8 percent respectively.
The agriculture sector continued to expand, as the total grain output in 2018 reached 720,000 metric tons, up 10.6 percent year-on-year. Yields of summer grain and autumn grain totaled 353,000 tons and 367,000 tons respectively.
The city’s added value of industries above a designated scale rose by 8 percent over the previous year, 0.8 percentage points higher than the provincial average, ranking eighth in Henan. The total profit of industries above a designated scale increased by 27.7 percent year-on-year, and its fixed-asset investment, excluding farmers, experienced a sustained growth of 10.5 percent in 2018, 2.4 percentage points higher than the average level in Henan.
Sanmenxia is also witnessing an increase in its marketing sales. The city’s annual total retail sales of consumer goods reached 53.37 billion yuan, up 10.7 percent year-on-year, and the fiscal revenue hit 17.41 billion yuan, an increase of 20.6 percent.
