Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
Located in Huadu district in the north of Guangzhou, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is one of three key airline hubs in China, with convenient traffic conditions. It is 28 kilometers north of downtown Guangzhou.
The present Baiyun International Airport was opened on Aug 5, 2004 as a replacement for the identically named old airport, which opened in 1932 and is now closed due to its inability to expand to meet increasing passenger numbers.
By the end of 2018, the airport had three runways and two terminal buildings, covering a total area of more than 1.4 million square meters. It has launched more than 210 domestic and international routes to cities in more than 40 countries and regions, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Helsinki in Finland, and San Francisco in the United States.
In 2017, the airport was China's third-busiest and the world's 13th-busiest airport by passenger traffic, with about 65.8 million passengers handled.
