Shenyang worker's cultural palace, with a history of 62 years, will be reconstructed and upgraded as a top national cultural landmark that inherits and promotes the spirit of workmanship, announced the Shenyang federation of trade unions on March 5.
The union formulated a three-year plan to strengthen workers' ideological and political education as well as their cultural and ethical progress. The plan will play a leading role in advancing Shenyang's revitalization and development.
Shenyang workers' cultural palace, a historical and cultural site as well as an industrial heritage that carries precious memories of generations, is a favorable platform for cultural display.
The director of the trade union said that the cultural palace, built in 1957, was originally divided into two sections by Nanjiuzhong Road. It was later rebuilt as a huge stadium for cultural and sports events.
According to the director, the innovation project will mainly focus on the south section of the palace and upgrade it to a cultural landmark.
The landmark will involve multiple functional zones including a Shenyang labor movement history pavilion, a craftsman classroom, and an intangible cultural heritage exhibition.
The union has already begun to hold expert workshops to refine the constructing plans which are anticipated to launch in the first half of the year.
