Guangxi now has seven airports in different cities: Nanning, Guilin, Beihai, Liuzhou, Wuzhou, Baise, and Hechi. In addition, four airports are under construction, which lie in Hezhou, Yulin, Fangchenggang/Qinzhou, and Chongzuo.
The seven airports are Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, Nanning Wuxu International Airport, Wuzhou Xijiang Airport, Liuzhou Bailian Airport, Baise Tianyang Airport (Bama Airport), Beihai Fucheng Airport, and Hechi Jinchengjiang Airport.
With construction starting in 2014, Wuzhou Xijiang Airport was approved by the government in late 2018, and made its first flight in January.
In 2018, the region put 3.3 billion yuan ($492 million) into airport construction and this year, investment for the civil aviation sector is expected to reach 1 billion yuan. The passenger throughput of civil aviation in Guangxi was 27.66 million, up 11.6 percent year-on-year, of which the annual passenger throughput of Nanning Airport was 15.09 million, an increase of 8.5 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the passenger throughput of Guilin Airport reached 8.73 million, a year-on-year increase of 11.1 percent; that of Beihai Airport was 2.28 million, an increase of 33.4 percent year-on-year; Liuzhou Airport received 1.35 million passengers, an increase of 18.6 percent year-on-year. Passenger flow in the airports of Baise and Hechi are much smaller but with faster growth rates, both at above 50 percent.
