To boost economic cooperation and trade ties with Southeast Asia, a delegation from the Guangdong Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade embarked on a special tour to Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia on March 5.
"Southeast Asia is one of the overseas markets we hope to focus on this year, and we hope to find new business opportunities there", said Zheng Kui, president of a Guangzhou-based company and member of the delegation. Over 50 entrepreneurs from Guangdong joined the delegation to expand their businesses – including Zheng, who is looking to expand his air conditioning, energy-saving materials, and smart equipment businesses into Southeast Asia.
According to statistics, in 2018, trade between Guangdong and the aforementioned three countries totaled $25.88 billion, and over $263.36 million was invested in the three countries by Guangdong-based companies.
The delegation will stay in the three countries for 10 days and is expected to sign cooperation deals with local governments involving infrastructure construction, communications equipment, finance, and agriculture.
