A meeting themed on optimizing business environment in the city of Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, outlined exciting innovation options when it was held on March 4.
The meeting, chaired by Siqinbilige, mayor of Ordos, was attended by Niu Junyan, Party secretary of the city and the city’s other top executives.
Niu delivered a speech, in which he stressed that an optimized business environment is a lifeline to a region’s economic growth.
He urged government departments at all levels to aim higher and be aware of the urgency to improve the business environment.
In Niu’s speech, he said that opportunities for the services sector should be expanded and the efficiency of services be improved.
Private enterprises were the guests, while the government should act as a waiter, or facilitator Niu said.
The mayor said that what was needed was to implement policies to attract skilled workers, vigorously support self-innovation, transform and commercialize technical achievements and facilitate innovation platforms for companies.
“We should protect the legal interests of entrepreneurs and enhance the construction of credit systems, aiming to build a fairer business environment,” he added.
“We need to state clearly what can be done and what should be avoided when dealing with the relationships between the government and the business sector.”
Niu also urged all officials and departments to deliver on their responsibilities and establish close partnerships, driving the optimization of the city’s business environment.
Any individual or department falling short of that should be called to account, and local media organizations should play their role in the process, Niu argued.
