Shenyang airport boosted by Spring Festival travel rush

Shenyang Taoxian International Airport in Shenyang, capital city of Northeast China's Liaoning province, on March 3 reported a healthy increase in the number of flights and passengers during the Spring Festival travel rush.

During the 40-day travel rush, which began on Jan 21 and ended on March 1, the airport handled 16,400 flights and 2.38 million passengers, representing a year-on-year growth of 4.5 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively.

In addition, it handled 18,800 tons of cargo, for a year-on-year increase of 17.2 percent.

Feb 11, also the 7th day of the Chinese lunar calendar, saw the largest number of passengers, which hit 64,823.
