Guangzhou Shipyard International Co Ltd (GSI) delivered a 327-meter-long Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC), the largest of its kind to ever be made in South China, to a Singaporean client on Feb 28.

Known as Berge Logan, the vessel is 327 meters long, 57 meters wide, and has a load capacity of 300,000 tons. The deck area of the vessel spans over 16,000 square meters, equivalent to 2.2 standard football courts. It has six large cargo holds, each of which can carry about 50,000 tons of cargo.

GSI is a modern shipbuilding company wholly owned by CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering (Group) Co Ltd under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Group (CSSC). It is the largest construction center for navy support vessels in South China and a high-tech enterprise with a national technical center and import and export autonomy.

In recognition of GSI's excellent construction quality, the Singaporean shipping company Berge Bulk gave an additional award of $10,000 to the Guangzhou shipyard.
