An aircraft equipment bonded warehouse affiliated to Shenyang Southern Airlines Import and Export Trade Co Ltd started operations on March 4, according to information from Shenyang airport customs.
The facility is one of the largest of its type in the Northeast China region and is situated at the airline's base in Shenyang Taoxian International Airport. It covers an area of 740 square meters and consists of five functional areas –– inspections, storage, inventory, large accessories, and an area for customers.
It is mainly used for storing aircraft spare parts, providing aviation materials bonded storage services for the Shenyang overhaul base of China Southern Airlines.
In the process of repairing aircraft and parts, more than 95 percent of the parts that need to be replaced and used are imported from foreign manufacturers. But, thanks to the new bonded warehouse, customs clearance times are now expected to be significantly reduced for maintenance materials, said a staff member of Shenyang Southern Airlines Import and Export Trade Co Ltd.
At present, the airline's maintenance base is designed to service Airbus A320 aircraft, and stocks more than 500 parts such as auxiliary power units (APU) and integrated drive generators.
It has also passed domestic and international aircraft maintenance certifications from the CAAC (International Civil Aviation Organization), FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).
It is anticipated that the overhaul base will maintain 20 sets of APUs for foreign customers in 2019, generating a gross output value of 40 million yuan ($5.97 million).
