NANNING -- A total of 695,800 impoverished people have been relocated for a better life in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region as of Feb 28 this year since the region started a campaign to alleviate poverty through resettlement in 2016.
Guangxi, a key region in China's anti-poverty efforts, plans to relocate 710,000 people and help them get rid of poverty from 2016 to 2020.
Local government will help create job opportunities for the relocated population, and efforts will also be made in providing basic social security, said an official in charge of the poverty-relief work.
China aims to eliminate absolute poverty by 2020.
