China Railway Nanning Group Co Ltd hosted 14.08 million passengers during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush from Jan 21 to March 3, up 6.6 percent from last year. Most travelers were migrants returning home or students.
The number of trans-provincial travelers increased by 3.5 percent year-on-year to 4.49 million, while passengers traveling within Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region grew by 8.1 percent year-on-year to 9.6 million.
The company operated an average of 250.5 pairs of bullet trains per day, 35 of which were temporarily added to meet the surging demand during Spring Festival. Passenger flow peaked on Feb 11, the 7th day of the 1st lunar month, with 490,000 departures tallied in a single day.

Thirty-six railway stations across Guangxi allowed passengers to swipe their second-generation ID cards for a quick check-in and check-out process, greatly reducing waiting time.
The convenience of transferring has also improved, as China Railway Nanning Group Co Ltd coordinated with local public transport authorities to arrange for more buses at the Guilin, Qinzhou East, Beihai and other railway stations with heavy traffic.
