A meeting regarding Jilin province's work in the areas of culture and tourism was held in Changchun, the provincial capital, on March 1, outlining achievements in 2018 and deciding objectives for 2019.
Representatives of culture and tourism departments from across the province attended the meeting, including Yang Andi, director of Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Su Wei, deputy director of Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Jin Xudong, director of Jilin Cultural Relics Bureau.
Yang outlined developments in Jilin's culture and tourism sector over the past year, and set goals for 2019.
In 2018, the province received nearly 221.6 million visitors, representing year-on-year growth of 15.15 percent; and tourism revenues came in at 421.1 billion yuan ($62.9 billion), an increase of 20.07 percent.
Over the past year, the tourism industry in Jilin has maintained strong growth, with a focus on green development and ice and snow sports.
For 2019, the province has set a goal of receiving 250 million visitors and achieving revenues of 490 billion yuan.
In addition, the focus of work for 2019 will be on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
