Celebrating Chopin with pop-up book store

In celebration of famed composer Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin's birthday on March 1, the Sinan Books Pop-up Store recently reopened for the fourth time at Chongqing Rd S. square.

With musicians playing the Guzheng, a Chinese plucked string instrument, the 30-square-meter and diamond-shaped pop-up store will be open for three months.

The store has 450 varieties of books ranging from music and music literature, instrument playing, art cultivation, the art of dancing, and pop music, to parent-child musical interaction, along with books on literature, arts, philosophy, lifestyle, and travel.

The books are divided into categories such as music, music sheets and instrument playing techniques, and some rare music sheets and old photos will also be exhibited.

In addition, the pop-up store will work with Sinan Mansion to hold concerts themed on Chopin, "the Butterfly Lovers", Kunqu opera, and Jazz, which will all be broadcast live online.

The pop-up store used to feature Sinan Mansion, Shanghai's books and movies, the new era of Shanghai and Nanjing Road Walkway.

Close on the heels of the pop-up store, the new Shanghai Music Bookshop will open in 2020, along with other bookstores themed on poetry, movies and drama, and second-hand academic books to make Shanghai a more artistic and literary city.
