A total of 36 companies based in Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone were selected as national level high tech-based enterprises in 2018, representing year-on-year growth of 38.5 percent, according to Baotou Daily.
The figure accounted for 50 percent of the city’s total and 11.2 percent of the autonomous region’s total.
Last year saw the zone’s authorities working hard to gain recognition for its tech firms, with the science and technology bureau of Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone inviting a number of experts to visit local companies. In addition, a number of training sessions were provided to upgrade the skills of workers at local companies.
Approved by the State Council in 1992, Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone is the only high-tech district dedicated to the rare earth industry among China’s 53 national high-tech zones, and is the only national-level high-tech zone in Inner Mongolia.
