Shanxi province will run a pilot ethanol gasoline project in Taiyuan, Yangquan, Changzhi and Jincheng cities in 2019, in an effort to promote the use of the fuel and cut emissions.

A total of 18 tank farms and 3,552 gas stations across 11 cities in Shanxi will be converted for automotive ethanol gasoline, and delivery centers will also be built for the fuel.

Shanxi branches of China Petrochemical Co and China National Petroleum Co will be responsible for the construction of the delivery centers, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

From Jan 1, 2020, Shanxi will promote the use of ethanol gasoline across the province and all gas stations will sell only automotive ethanol gasoline (except petrol for military and industrial use).

It’s estimated that petrol consumption in Shanxi will be around 3.75 million tons in 2020 and 375,000 tons of ethanol will be needed annually.
