Duoyun Bookstore in Songjiang District has won the title of the "Most Beautiful Chinese Bookstore". The awarding ceremony was held in Beijing recently.

The event was organized by the Books and Periodicals Distribution Association of China and Bookdao.com, with 16 other libraries also winning accolades.

Duoyun Bookstore is located in a 1,600 square-meter and well-preserved Ming Dynasty building among a Hui-style architecture cluster at Guangfulin Relics Park, an archeological site in the suburban district.

The bookstore has two stories, with space for reading, cultural innovation, exhibitions, lectures, and tea-tasting. A pine tree and a cloud installation have been placed in its middle court to give the bookstore a sense of simplicity and ease.

Duoyun boasts rich publication and art resources from Shanghai Century Publishing (Group) Co, and its design combines traditional Chinese architectural style with modern elements. The bookstore's arts, such as calligraphy works and Chinese paintings, coupled with modern cultural innovation products provide the readers with a unique experience.

Also, the bookstore has a collection of more than 6,000 varieties of books ranging from literature, history, social science, arts, paintings, and Chinese calligraphy to Shanghai culture-themed books, and a section set aside for more than 20 of Songjiang's rare ancient books.

In the art exhibition section, calligraphy and Chinese paintings are scattered everywhere, and the library will continue to introduce Shanghai-style and Jiangnan culture-themed calligraphy and painting exhibitions.
