Health cooperation consensus signed in Shenzhen

According to Duan Yufei, director of the Health Commission of Guangdong province, the consensus represented common desires for more health cooperation among relevant authorities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and was also an action plan for further cooperation. He expressed his confidence in future health development in the area guided by the consensus.

Sophia Chan Siu-chee, director of the Food and Health Bureau of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said that the consensus would help promote cooperation in the fields of public health emergencies, TCM and professional training. She promised that Hong Kong would encourage more private medical service institutions and professional medical teams to join in the construction of a better medical system for the wellbeing of residents of the Greater Bay Area.

Alexis Tam Chon Weng, secretary of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao Special Administrative Region, said that Macao had been actively reforming medical and health institutions in response to national health policies in recent years. He said that the shaping of the bay area’s health system offered an unprecedented opportunity for Macao to be involved in exchanges and cooperation in the health sector with sister cities in the area.
