Huadu district, known as the "backyard garden" of Guangzhou, launched its 11th tourism festival, themed around rape flowers, on Feb 23.
The festival kicked off in Puling village, Timian town, which is well-known for its lovely rape blossoms. There are over 200 mu (13.3 hectares) of rapeseed plants throughout the town, which are all due to bloom by the end of this month.

Timian town plans to use the event to promote the construction of a rural revitalization demonstration town, and strives to build a recreational area for Guangzhou's international aviation hub. It hopes to become a growth engine for the northern part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
In addition, a folk song performance and ancient costume show will be held in the town on March 3 and 8, respectively.
