The 2019 Rugao International Marathon will be held in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on March 10, according to information released at the event's news conference held in Nanjing on Feb 23.
Attendees at the news conference included Chen Lei, director of the contest department of the athletics administrative center of the General Administration of Sport of China, Yang Guoqing, president of Nanjing Sport Institute, and Yang Jian, director of Nantong sports bureau.
They outlined the highlights of the event and gave details on the marathon's route and security arrangements, as well as the design of its logo and medals.
Hosted by the Chinese Athletic Association, Jiangsu sports bureau and Rugao municipal people's government, the event will include a full marathon (42.195 kilometers), a half-marathon (21.0975 km), and a 5.5-km run.
It is estimated that 10,000 runners will take part in the event, with 2,000 undertaking the full marathon, 3,000 doing the half, and 5,000 joining the 5.5-km run.
Full marathon runners will start and finish at Rugao Olympic Sports Center, passing by the main urban area and new urban district of Rugao, which features some of the city's most beautiful scenery.
