The city of Ordos in Inner Mongolia autonomous region initiated a tough new crackdown on people illegally polluting the environment, on Feb 22.
During the campaign, which will last until Dec 20, four special teams will be organized to inspect whether each banner has implemented previous environmental regulations enacted by the city’s government.
The teams will focus on checking companies, organizations or areas that have previously been flagged up as problem areas by inspectors from regional and national authorities.
Unauthorized building in nature reserves is also set to be a focus of the city, with the teams paying special attention to enforcing building regulations.
