The total volume of imports and exports in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province reached 16.57 billion yuan ($2.45 billion) in January, with a year-on-year increase of 19.65 percent –– 11 percentage points higher than the average national growth rate.
Exports came in at 2.82 billion yuan, increasing 15.72 percent, while imports totaled 13.75 billion yuan, an increase of 20.49 percent.
General trade represented the lion's share of the January figure at 13.92 billion yuan, an increase of 31.19 percent –– 84 percent of the province's total import and export value.
And the total volume of import and export trade with countries along the Belt and Road Initiative also witnessed significant growth, hitting 13.63 billion yuan –– year-on-year growth of 31.02 percent.
Advanced technology, agriculture, and mechanical and electrical products all made up a higher share of the province's exports, with 1.27 billion yuan of electrical products exported, representing year-on-year growth of 30.8 percent –– 45 percent of Heilongjiang's exports.
