The import and export value of Jinan, capital city of Shandong province, reached 9.56 billion yuan ($1.38 billion), up 25.1 percent year-on-year in January.
Imports grew 36.6 percent year-on-year to reach 3.91 billion yuan, while exports increased by 18.3 percent to 5.65 billion yuan. The city's monthly import and export value has achieved 16 consecutive months of year-on-year growth.
All of the imports and exports of privately owned enterprises, foreign-invested companies and state-owned companies maintained growth. Privately owned enterprises contributed 4.9 billion yuan, up three percent from the last month.
Stated-owned enterprises rose up to 2.6 billion yuan. Imports and exports conducted by foreign-invested companies totaled two billion yuan, up three percent from a month earlier.
Mechanical and electrical products were the largest export item in Jinan in January, with the total value increasing by 28.7 percent, reaching nearly 3.5 billion yuan.
