Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is expected to receive 144.3 million visitors in 2019, generating an estimated tourism revenue of 160.7 billion yuan ($23.9 billion), according to a tourism work conference held on Feb 21.
The city is currently home to 62 scenic spots above the 3A-level, 50 starred hotels, 117 starred rural B&Bs, 140 travel agencies, and 4,200 registered guides.
With its already solid foundation, Nanning plans to improve its supporting facilities and service system. More than 88 tourism toilets will be built or renovated. Construction on an all-for-one tourism data center will begin this year, and a dedicated app will be developed to promote smart tourism.
Tourist attractions will be enriched with the introduction of new products related to cruises on the Yongjiang River, motorhomes, and healthcare. The increasing presence of sports activities like the Nanning International Marathon is also expected to inject new life into the sector.
To promote healthy development, local authorities will strengthen supervision over tourist attractions and tourist enterprises. A blacklist of businesses who have engaged in malpractice will be made available to the public.
Construction on major tourist attractions, including Guming Village, Jiangyu Dream Town, and Shuijin Shunzhuang Scenic Spot, will also move forward.
