Shizuishan Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in September 1992 and upgraded to a national-level zone as approved by the State Council in April 2011.
The zone has planned and built some industrial areas. Among them are parks of electric power, metallurgy, fine chemical engineering, special steel, and biochemical engineering and also a new materials and new energy industrial center.
Installed capacity of power generation companies in the zone was 2.6 million kilowatts. It can also generate 30 megawatts of electricity by solar power and annually produce 4,000 metric tons of polycrystalline silicon, 1,000 tons of monocrystalline silicon, 600,000 tons of steel, 400,000 tons of cement, 315,000 tons of polyvinyl chloride, 50,000 tons of magnesium and 19,000 tons of activated carbon.
