Anshun National Hi-Tech Development Zone, originally known as Liyang Hi-Tech Industrial Park, was established in April 2001 as a provincial development zone for hi-tech industries, the first of its kind in Guizhou province.
Located in Pingba district, Anshun, the former Liyang Hi-Tech Industrial Park is 38 kilometers from the downtown area and 39 kilometers from Guiyang. It was set to develop four sectors: hi-tech industry, modern agriculture, integrated tourism, and commerce. In 2016, it changed its name into Anshun Hi-Tech Development Zone.
In February 2017, with approval from the State Council, the hi-tech zone was upgraded to the national level. Its administration area expanded from 0.98 square kilometers to 4.22 square kilometers, while it now has four subordinate industrial parks: Xiayun, Yangchang, Leping, and Xixiu. Anshun National Hi-Tech Zone has a focus on emerging sectors, such as aerospace, manufacturing, medicine, electronic information, and modern services.
In the first five months of 2018, the zone recorded a sales volume of 6.33 billion yuan ($937 million), an import-export volume of 149 million yuan, and a fiscal revenue of 248 million yuan.
