The State Council approved to set up the Chongqing Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone in the Xiyong Micro-Electronics Industrial Park in February 2010, with a planning area of 8.32 square kilometers. It was the first comprehensive bonded zone in China's inland regions and came into operation in November 2010.
The zone was included into the China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone in April 2017. It has built the world's largest laptop manufacturing center and witnessed the development of smart products and key parts such as printers, servers, smart phones and wearable devices. A full industrial chain of integrated circuits has been established in the zone, involving chip design, manufacturing, packaging and test.
New-type commerce also develops rapidly in the zone, such as cross-border e-commerce and bonded cultural trade.
It ranks sixth nationally in terms of foreign trade among 140 areas under special customs supervision during January to October 2018.
The zone has four functions -- customs clearance, bonded processing, bonded logistics and service trade. It can offer services such as storing import and export goods, international purchasing, after-sales maintenance and also the display, research and development, processing and manufacturing of commodities.
