Stretching for over 2,500 meters, the Wanxiang River in Xiaoshan district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province has seen positive results in water quality control since an intelligent river management system was installed.
Developed by Chen Dongliang, a Hangzhou-based entrepreneur and the general manager of Hangzhou Jiuwen Digital Science and Technology Co, the intelligent platform introduces cloud solutions from Hangzhou's "City Brain", an intelligent system for urban management.
Specifically, the Wanxiang river is equipped with a 10-meter wide pump with water quality monitoring facilities, automatic gate, and a 360-degree camera on it, which will transmit all of the real-time data to the intelligent management platform and inform the local authorities, such as water deterioration, mud dumping and sewage discharging, said Chen.
The water control management system featuring the use of technology and internet has freed authorizes from endless river inspections and benefited the whole of society, according to Fang Jun, deputy head of Xiaoshan district.
To date, the system has detected around 18,000 incidents since being put into operation a year ago.
This year, the intelligent platform will be promoted in all districts of Xiaoshan and address more issues including reducing the disposal cost of river environmental problems.
