Xiamen building industry output value hits record high

The output value of construction industry in Xiamen, Fujian province hit a record high in 2018 with 216.5 billion yuan ($31.36 billion), a year-on-year increase of 16.9 percent, data from Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Statistics show.

The construction companies in the city secured 412.6 billion yuan worth of contracts last year, up by 22 percent than the figure of 2017, 50 of which signed contracts worth more than 1 billion yuan.

As of 2018, the Chinese city was home to 782 private building companies, taking up 97.9 percent of Xiamen's total number of such companies. The output value of these private companies surged 17.1 percent year-on-year to 200.7 billion yuan.

The number of national first class building companies in the city went up from 108 to 141 in 2018.

In addition, the construction projects of Xiamen companies spread over 30 Chinese provinces, with Guangdong, Jiangxi and Anhui garnering the highest number of such projects.
