The 274.2 km Datong-Taiyuan section of the Datong-Xi'an High-speed Railway is expected to open to train traffic by the end of October.
Once the high-speed railway opens, the travel time between Datong and Taiyuan will be shortened to around two hours.
Starting from Datong in Shanxi province and going to Xi’an in Shaanxi province, the Datong-Xi'an High-speed Railway runs 859 km through nine cities with trains on the railway running up to 350 km/h.
Currently, the sections from Taiyuan to Xi'an and Yuanping to Xinzhou have completed construction and have opened to traffic.
After the entire stretch of the railway is completed, travel from Datong to Xi’an will only take 5.5 hours, 10.5 hours shorter than before.
