Founded in 2003, Xinxiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone was upgraded into a national high-tech industrial development zone by the State Council in 2012. Sitting in the east of Xinxiang, Henan province, the zone is 8.5 kilometers from the city’s central urban area. With a total area of 50 square kilometers, the zone occupies a construction land area of 25 sq km with a population of 110,000.

With Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway to the west, Jinan-Dongying Expressway to the north, and Xinxiang-Heze Railway to the south, the zone enjoys significant transportation advantages, as it is an eight minute drive to get to Xinxiang East Station and 45 minutes away from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport by car.

In recent years, the zone has witnessed a steady growth in its three leading industries, namely high-tech textiles and apparel, high-end equipment manufacturing, and modern services. It is home to 185 industrial enterprises, including State-owned companies, China North Industries Group Corp and Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

Relying on the national development strategies of the Central Plains Economic Region and Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone, the zone will actively take part in the Belt and Road Initiative. The China-EU Express Railway (Xinxiang) began running from Xinxiang in March 2018 and provides plenty of convenience for the surrounding enterprises in the zone, which will help lower their transportation costs, optimize resource distribution, and upgrade the industrial structure of enterprises in the central plains.

In the first three quarters of 2018, the regional GDP of the zone reached 9.63 billion yuan ($1.42 billion), up 11.3 percent year-on-year. Its general public budget revenue totaled 367 million yuan, a year-on-year growth of 14.5 percent.
