Nansha, the front runner of reform and opening up in the new era

From 2014 to 2018, Nansha's GDP has grown at an average annual rate of 11 percent. The total tax revenue is growing at an average annual rate of 13.3 percent. The number of registered enterprises increased by nearly 10-fold and 135 Fortune 500 companies' projects were introduced to Nansha. Nansha Port Area has become the largest single port area in South China, and cross-border e-commerce bonded online shopping imports account for about one-fifth of the country's total.

“At present, Nansha is mainly focusing on constructing the three aspects of Nansha: business environment, cooperation in the Greater Bay Area and modern industry.”Cai Chaolin, director general of the administrative committee of Nansha development zone, said,“Nansha is accelerating the creation of an attractive business environment."

Nansha benchmarks the World Bank index system, and focuses on the construction of a first-class business environment to deepen the innovation of the free trade zone system.A total of 415 reform and innovation achievements have been formed. The new model of“cross-border e-commerce supervision mode”and “enterprise-specific webpage” has been selected as the“Best Practice Cases”of the Ministry of Commerce.

Nansha has also preliminarily established an institutional framework that is linked to the rules of international investment and trade.Cai revealed that Nansha has accelerated the cooperation in the Greater Bay Area. In 2018, there were 1,504 new Hong Kong and Macao enterprises (2,872in total), and the investment amount was $ 49.6 billion, which was seven-fold increase and six-fold increase respectively.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) was constructed in Nansha and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (International) Youth Innovation Workshop was built.

In addition,“Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop”and other Hong Kong and Macao youth innovation and entrepreneurship platforms were established.

Nansha built the Guangdong-Hong Kong Industrial Deep Cooperation Park and Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Portuguese-speaking Countries Industrial Park.

Cai expressed that looking forward to the future, with the goal of accelerating the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-MacaoGreater Bay Area, Nansha will promote the construction of a world-class business environment and a world-class living environment, thus enhancing the function of a high-level opening up gateway hub.

Nansha will be built into a State-levelNew Zone, a Pilot Free Trade Zone, a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Comprehensive Cooperation Demonstration Zone and Guangzhou' s UrbanSub-center with high standards.
