The 2019 Jinshitan New Year Tourism Cultural Festival and New Year Lantern Festival kicked of in Dalian during Spring Festival and features the core values of Chinese society, interactive platforms, exquisite artworks and a colorful layout.
Historical background
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the PRC. The festival has a series of themed lanterns including The 40 Years of Brilliant Reform, The Chinese Dream, and The Belt and Road Initiative, which focus on the core values of Chinese social philosophy. It promotes the spirit and efforts made by Chinese people in exhibition themes such as ecological tourism and the concept of "the green water and green hills are gold and silver mountains".
Participation
The festival displays a series of interactive lanterns featuring top technology in which visitors can take photos and send them to apps such as Weibo and Douyin to win a prize.
Antiques
This year's festival showcases the craftsmanship of Zigong lanterns and their striking appearance. The lanterns of crystal kylin, a Chinese mythical creature in the Confucius Temple in Shandong's Qufu, is a highlight of the festival that symbolizes blessing and good luck. It adopts the binding and internal light transmission technology of Zigong lanterns.
Colorful layout
This year's festival has various kinds of lanterns with natural themes such as flowers and the sea as well as traditional Chinese cultural displays such as the Prosperous Chinese New Year and the Lion Dance for the New Spring.
