Jilin produces first ice and snow culture-themed animated film

Snowing Indicates Harvest, the first ice and snow culture-themed animated film produced by Jilin province, premiered in its capital city Changchun on Feb 13.

Produced by Jilin Zijing Animation Technology Development Company, Snowing Indicates Harvest is also China's first animated comedy film focused on ice and snow sports.

It was made to promote Jilin's ice and snow culture and tourism industry, as well as an effort to respond to the country's goal of getting 300 million people participating in winter sports.

Local landscapes and cultural customs in the animated film will add a sense of reality to the film for viewers, and also give them a chance to learn more about Jilin's local culture, said Hu Zhijun, producer of the animated film.

It is also an attempt by Jilin province to drive development of its tourism sector through animation, Hu added.

The movie will open in more than 2,000 cinemas across the country on Feb 16.
