Hohhot's government will spend 140 million yuan ($20.66 million) this year in improving healthcare services at the grassroots level, according to local reports.
The city, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, plans to make breakthroughs in the following three aspects: healthcare services in rural areas, genetic testing of inherited metabolic diseases, and building an emergency network.
To improve basic healthcare services, township hospitals in Hohhot will be fully equipped with essential digital medical devices in 2020 and their staff members will be offered a specific subsidy of 10,000 yuan per person each year from 2019.
Free genetic testing of inherited metabolic diseases for newborn babies will be organized across the city this year.
An emergency medical network, which connects air and land medical resources, will be established in 2020, pushing the city's emergency work to a higher level.
