Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region welcomed a total of 579,000 tourists during the seven-day Spring Festival period, according to Baotou Daily.
The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 12.1 percent, with tourism revenues hitting 317 million yuan ($47 million) –– year-on-year growth of 14.9 percent.
In order to maintain a safe and orderly environment for tourists visiting Baotou, the city increased security patrols and inspections at key tourist attractions, with special arrangements to ensure adequate numbers of officials on duty to handle complaints over the holiday.
This year’s Spring Festival holiday started on Feb 4 and finished on Feb 10.
