Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning province, received 2.896 million tourists from all over the world during the Spring Festival holiday from Feb 4 to 10, marking an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the city's culture, tourism, radio and television department.
The total tourism revenue reached 2.15 billion yuan ($316.84 million), a year-on-year increase of 3percent.
The city launched more than 70 tourism activities this winter, with ice and snow tourism projects attracting a large number of visitors.
During the holiday, Qipanshan Ice and Snow World received a total of 39,600 tourists, generating revenues of 1.15 million yuan, and Northeastern Asia Skiing Resort received 8,500 tourists, gaining revenues of 559,000 yuan.
Other activities such as temple fairs also attracted a host of vistiors during the holiday.
