Fujian's tourism industry saw robust growth in both revenue and number of visitors during the week-long Spring Festival holiday, data from the local authorities show.

The province recorded a total of 26.38 million trips made by tourists and grossed 21.1 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) in tourism revenue from Feb 4 to 10, year-on-year increases of 16.4 percent and 22.8 percent respectively, according to the Fujian provincial department of culture and tourism.

The results are primarily attributable to ticket price cuts and a host of cultural activities. In a bid to lure tourists, about 100 scenic spots across Fujian slashed ticket prices. Meanwhile, various folk activities, including flower fairs, temple fairs and dragon and lion dances were held to celebrate the holiday.
