Fujian's registered contractual investment overseas in 2018 was valued at $5.52 billion, an uptick of 57 percent year-on-year, local authorities said.
According to the Fujian provincial department of commerce, the province recorded actual overseas investment of $2.84 billion last year, a staggering increase of 70.5 percent over the previous year, ranking it eighth nationwide.
The projects with registered capital of more than $100 million numbered 10, with accumulative value reaching $4.06 billion, accounting for 73.5 percent of the total within the province.
In 2018 Fujian's investment in business mergers and acquisitions overseas amounted to $3.91 billion, and was placed in power, construction, software and wholesale and textile industries.
Meanwhile, its investment in the BRI countries also maintained fast growth momentum last year, reaching an accumulative value of $1.21 billion, of which $730 million was in countries involved in the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, part of the BRI.
