Modern Service Industry

The modern service industry includes emerging service industries arising from technological development, as well as the transformation and upgrading of traditional service industries with modern technology. The report of the 13th Party Congress of Xi'an pointed out that Xi'an should build their modern service industry into one of the three trillion-scale industries in Xi'an. As one of the five leading industries in Xi'an, modern service industry has maintained high-end and high-quality development in recent years. A modern industrial system dominated by modern service industry is under formation; the competitive industries such as finance, logistics, exposition, and new industries and new business forms such as science and technology and e-commerce are developing rapidly.

In 2016, the number of service enterprises above designated size in Xi'an was 1,091, and the number of employees in the modern service industry was 1,067,800; the added value of the service industry reached 382.736 billion yuan, accounting for 61.2 percent of the city's GDP. Xi'an modern service industry is agglomerated and intensive, i.e. the industrial structure is increasingly centering on other service industry; the enterprises are mainly financial enterprises and real estate enterprises; and the industries are mainly distributed in suburbs such as Yanta, Beilin, Lianhu, Xincheng, Baqiao, Weiyang and Chang'an Districts.
