Jiangsu-Shinyanga Agricultural Industrial Park, located in northwest Tanzania’s Shinyanga, a cotton production area, was approved as a provincial-level overseas industrial cluster by the province’s departments of commerce and finance in May 2016.

In July 2017, it was listed as one of the 10 State-level overseas agricultural cooperation demonstration zones by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, being the first of its kind in Jiangsu province.

Covering about 450,000 square meters, the zone has attracted over 400 locals to work in the area along with more than 30 Chinese employees. The annual output volume reached approximately $40 million by April 2018.

Giving full play to local cotton resources, the industrial park has become a production base for cotton and textiles with modern agricultural technologies. It applies advanced planting methods and techniques from China to offer guidance to farmers in Tanzania.

After more than three years’ development, it has become the biggest textile production base in the country and is devoting great efforts in developing a whole industrial chain with cotton as its source.
