Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries rank among the top destinations for Chinese travelers that departed from Shanghai during the week-long Spring Festival.
According to Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection, more than 68 percent of Chinese tourists who departed from Shanghai headed for these countries and regions.
The overall number of people who crossed the border through Shanghai from Feb 4 to 10 was around 860,000, with more than 120,000 people entering or exiting the country daily, said the border inspection agency in a news release on Feb 11.
Figures from the authority also showed that some 700,000 travelers who crossed the border from Shanghai during the holiday are Chinese, and cruise travel is still a popular choice among families.
Since the travel rush started on Jan 21, the inspection station has examined a total of 32 international cruise ships and 160,000 travelers.
