A report on China's development of intelligent logistics was released in Hangzhou, an e-commerce hub in Zhejiang province on Jan 10, local media reported.

Jointly compiled by the China Academy of Transportation Sciences, Cainiao Network, Ali Research, China Railway Economic and Planning Research Institute, and Beijing Jiaotong University, the report indicates that advantaged technologies such as big data and cloud computing are working well in domestic intelligent logistic systems, while the level of intellectualization in basic infrastructures is limited.

It also points that the domestic logistic industry is also faced with new development opportunities brought by the changes in consumer demands.

On one hand, the industry is becoming increasingly digitalized, transforming from labor-intensive to a knowledge, information, and capital-intensive sector, with the efficiency in logistic operation and resource integration being greatly improved.

On the other, the interconnected integration and development between modern information technology, transportation technology and commercial circulation has lowered the information and transaction costs between the manufacturing industry and the market, thus giving a boost to the innovative development of the real economy.

Unmanned aerial vehicles, new retail, e-commerce logistics, high-speed rail express, intelligent port, and data governance are among the hot issues in China's logistic industry, according to the report.

East China's Zhejiang province, home to internet giant Alibaba and several large courier companies, shipped over 10 billion parcels in 2018, the provincial postal administration said.
