1st cruise of the year welcomed

Cruise ship World Odyssey carrying nearly 700 tourists arrived at Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal in Hongkou District on Jan 31, the first visiting ship of 2019.

A welcome ceremony featuring Peking Opera and lion dances was held for the tourists who will stay in Shanghai for two days and leave on February 2. They visited Zhujiajiao Water Town and watched an acrobatic show yesterday.

"Shanghai is a beautiful city and it was an interesting experience," said Laura Thompson, a tourist from the United States who also visited the city in 2002.

"I will visit Moganshan Road and art galleries this time," she said.

Last year, the terminal received 19 ships and about 23,000 tourists.
