Shengli Oil Field, China's second-largest oil field complex after PetroChina's Daqing Oil Fields, has, since 1961 to Jan 20 of this year, produced more than 1.2 billion metric tons of crude, the company said on Friday.
It's the equivalent of providing 0.9 tons of crude for each of the country's 1.3 billion residents, it said.
For over 50 years, 78 different kinds of oil and gas fields have been found in the Shengli oil field, with a total original oil in place of 5.21 billion tons.
Shengli's cumulative oil production is up to 1.03 billion tons, accounting for one fifth of nationwide output in the same period and half of the whole Bohai Basin, according to the company.
The oilfield, located primarily in Dongying, Shandong province, with its working areas distributed in eight cities and 28 counties in Shandong province and five provinces and autonomous regions in other parts of China, has contributed significantly to safeguarding national energy security, and developing the national economy, it said.
