Jieshou town and Linze town in Gaoyou, a county-level city of Yangzhou, East China’s Jiangsu province were recently listed as National Historical and Cultural Villages and Towns.
The list has been jointly released by the Ministry of Housing and the Urban-Rural Development and the National Cultural Heritage Administration since 2003.
The listed towns and villages are abundant in preserved cultural relics, which are of great historical value or commemorative significance and reflect the traditional features and ethnic characteristics of some historical period.
Jieshou town has more than 30 relic protection sites, including one national-level site and one provincial-level site, while Linze town has a history of more than 1,500 years.
Yangzhou has four national historical and cultural towns at present.
