Construction of Fujian's first park based on the internet of things was recently completed.

The IoT applications in the Tianmashan ecological park situated in the Mawei district of Fuzhou could be spotted everywhere, and included intelligent water meters, lamps, manhole covers and parking lots.

The park's manhole covers are fitted with sensors that detects when they are dislodged and alerts the authorities. Also the rubbish bins are equipped with sensors that tell cleaners when they are full.

All the scenarios are based on the narrow band internet of things (NB-IoT), a technology developed by China Telecommunications Corp, the country's third largest mobile carrier, which enables the connection of billions of gadgets through the internet and allows for handy retrieval of the massive trove of data generated.

According to a staffer at the park, the park can be monitored and managed much more easily via the platform's NB-IoT technology. Through analysis of the data various hidden perils will be identified and solved swiftly.
