Top ten places showing Changchun's soul chosen

Changchun, capital of Jilin province, held a ceremony to present the selection of three "top ten" lists of places in the city on Jan 12.

Referring to the top ten cultural parks, art blocks and night scene areas, the 30 winning locations are believed to be the city's signature places as they uniquely represent the city in terms of scenery, historical culture, development and urban life.

At the ceremony, folklore scholars, city planning experts, performing celebrities, designers, citizen representatives and foreign friends who live and work in Changchun were invited to talk about the influences the "top ten" places had on their impressions and quality of life in the city. Artistic performances, including songs and poetry, were also part of the program.

Professor Bing Zheng, vice president of Jilin University, said that besides a city's economic development its cultural landmarks and historical footprints, forming the soul unique to that city, must be visible and felt in the lives of residents for them to feel satisfied with their quality of life.

The top ten parks in the city are Changchun World Sculpture Park, Changchun Water Culture Ecological Park, Jingyuetan National Forest Park, Changchun Deyuan Theme Park, Xinghuacun Park, Changchun Beihu National Wetland Park, Imperial Garden, Changchun International Automobile Park, Nanhu Lake Park, and Changchun Park.

The top ten art blocks are Changying Culture and Art Block at Hongqi Street, Coffee Cultural Creation and Life Art Block at Mudan Street, Dawuyan Historical Building Art Block at Dongfeng Street, Old Building Art Block at Xinmin Street, Historical Culture Art Block at South Square Theater, Tramcar and Fallen Leave Landscape Art Block, Ice and Snow Art Block at Huantan West Road, Old Changchun Culture Art Block at Pingyang Street, Guandong Culture Art Block at Wanfu Street, and Qianmi Cultural and Creative Art Block.

The top ten night scene areas are located at Nanhu Lake Bridge, Changchun Eyes Mall, Guilin Road, Yitong Riverbank, Renmin Street, 24 Hours Book Lover, City Flower, Museum of the Imperial Palace of "Manchukuo", Chongqing Pedestrian Street and Ecology Street CBD.
