Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently reached an agreement with Tencent to improve the city's digital economy.

With the help of Tencent's technology and experience in cloud computing, big data, block chain and artificial intelligence (AI), Guiyang will be able to become a green, low-carbon, convenient, and open city oriented toward innovation.

Known as China's Data Valley, Guiyang has proposed integrating big data with public service in order to better meet the demands of the people. The recently signed agreement caters to this idea and is expected to help with the digital development of Guiyang.

In order to better facilitate government applications, optimize the business environment, and improve administration efficiency, Tencent and Guiyang plan to develop a government service platform that provides online services for license applications, social insurance contributions, account inquiries, and more.

Tencent plans to join local universities to build an AI academy in Guiyang and support the development of AI-related companies. Tencent and Guiyang will also seek cooperation opportunities in intelligent manufacturing, education and medical care in order to promote the industrial economy.

As a potential service provider, Tencent owns essential infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology. The company is expected to play a key role in building an intelligent city.
